Tomorrow is a Fresh Start for Success

One of my favorite things about life is how tomorrow always allows us to have a fresh start. With almost everything, you can look at it that no matter what happened today you can start over tomorrow. This includes everything from missing items on your to-do list to going off track with your meal plan.

I am excited to share my thoughts on this and how I make it work for me. My hope is after reading this and watching the attached video you will walk away inspired and with a new perspective.

I must start by sharing that you can not dwell on your mistake or what you did not complete for the day. You can not be your worse critic but be your biggest supporter. It's fine to miss the target and try again tomorrow. The idea is you want to sit back and see how you can do it different tomorrow. Take time to look at how to prevent making the same mistake. In most cases, it's going to involve better planning.

My First Tip

So the day has ended, and let's get ready to start fresh tomorrow. I like to take my daily work bag and unpack it and reorganize everything. Put everything back in the right folder and storage bag. Don't start tomorrow with today's mess. We are all kids at heart that love fresh new supplies at the beginning of the school year so let's apply this to your morning with a fresh start.

If your day job set up with a desk, then let's clean it up for tomorrow. I try very hard to never leave my office at the end of the day in a mess. I put pens and pencils back where they go. I try to put my files back and have an organized to-do list to help me start fresh the next day. Coming into a fresh space makes such a difference.

Second Tip

You have finished dinner, and the family is moving on to their next task. Take this time to pick up around your home for just a few minutes. I am not talking about anything that is going to be exhausting but take the time to clean up the kitchen, so when you wake up tomorrow, it's fresh and ready to greet you when you make that great cup of coffee in the morning. I don't know about you but I sleep better when my kitchen is clean and dishes are in the dishwasher.

Third Tip

I find when I am in a rush in the morning I feel like I have nothing to wear but if I take the time the night before to plan my outfit I can get creative and enjoy the process. This also allows me to iron something if it's needed and saves at least 15 minutes on my time schedule. Also I find that when I plan the night before I am more creative with putting new things together. I "shop" my closet better when I have time to think and plan.

Fourth Tip

I never let my head hit the pillow without taking the time to think about what I am grateful for. Many times I will journey a few highlights that really stood out from my day. I also take this time to write down a few things I am in prayer about. This gives me the chance to see it and believe that God will answer them for me. I put my request before Him and believe.

Final Thoughts

You can't look at any of these items as an extra task to complete because this is your opportunity to have a successful tomorrow. They are all very simple and do not take much time. The hardest one would be picking up your kitchen but if you have your family jump in and help it can help speed the process up. Also, the benefit more than outweighs the task.

So what are some things that might not go as planned:
  • Didn't get your workout in?
  • Meal plan off track?
  • Didn't have "Me" time?
  • Didn't feel at your best?
Here is what we do:
  • Workout- Get up earlier. Lay clothes out the night before. Take lunch and walk an indoor track or mall. Leave work and go for a walk and bring workout clothes to work. If I have to go home after work to change I find that I will never go back out. Too many things are waiting on me at home to start working on.
  • Meal plan- Prepare the night before. This is the only thing that saves me. If I do not have my items to cook the day before I will not have a good plan and will end up in the drive through.
  • Need "Me" time- Get up even 5 minutes early. Turn off the tv more during the day after work. Ask your family to help with chores so you can sneak away for a hot bath. Don't feel selfish for asking for "Me" time. You need it to help stay healthy and you deserve it.
  • Not feeling your best- Look in the mirror and say out loud that you are AWESOME! Post it on the mirror and read it every day!
Now is a great time for you to watch the video I put together below that goes into a little more details on the topics I mentioned above. I hope you are able to put something in place to help you achieve the success you want from each day. Leave a comment and let me know what your struggle is you are working on!

Hope you found this helpful and I can't wait to share with you again very soon as I keep this series going for all of us.

Always Find a Way to Enjoy Everyday No Matter the Obstacle

I made a video on Monday that has a very powerful meaning and I want to share it with each of you. I had a picnic planned and from the start of the day the weather had storms forecasted all day but they seemed to be scattered. I said a little prayer that for our time during the picnic it would stop raining just long enough for us to enjoy. I was determined to have my picnic. My first lesson of the day is to always work around Mother-Nature.

There were so many obstacles in the way of getting this picnic put together that I cannot begin to explain every detail. From the heat to the rain, to trying to pack the food, and to the lovebugs. Now that a few days have passed I can laugh when I tell you it is Lovebug season, and I had no idea. There were lovebugs everywhere, and I mean hundreds. I was not letting them take over my picnic, and I fought through it. The rain had stopped and now the lovebugs needed to go!

I had everything ready to be so perfect but no one could sit down without having 500,000 bugs try and land on them. I wanted a picture of my cheese display so we sat it down and snapped it while Trey waived his arms all around to try and keep them out of the picture. Then we quickly packed it right back up and had to take it out one at a time to eat it. Yes, I am telling you it was that crazy. We were laughing so hard.

I found the perfect spot which was far enough away from the road but still had the wonderful view of the water. After walking away from this I learned the lesson that every plan you have might not go  as planned and it is up to you to make the best of it. We ended up laughing on our way home about how many lovebugs can actually find you and feel like they are eating you up.

Since I did not have the chance to take a photo of everything I should tell you we had delicious panini sandwiches, chips & dip, and these yummy Eclairs.

As you can see from the video below we had a wonderful time together. I hope you walk away from this thinking about how often you stop to enjoy the small things with your family even if the plans do not go as you expected. Make the most out of everything in your life. Don't focus on perfection and shut down the possibliities because your plans go differently than expected.

Funny story is the next day when I went to work and brought my bag into my office I had to lovebugs fly out, all I could do was laugh!

Next time I will be sure to check the weather and the 2 weeks out of the year that the lovebugs are at their heaviest. I defiantly see more picnics in our future!

I hope you enjoyed the video and I will see you in my next post!

Breakfast Ideas for the Kids Part Two

I am back with part two of my series with Breakfast Ideas for the Kids. In the video below I have shared the steps needed for three different dishes. The idea behind this is to help us all bring fresh and new items to the breakfast table during the school within a manageable timeframe.

Some of these are great to make the night before so the only think you need to do is heat them up. The others are recipes you can quickly make and some even have additional tips on how to make them while putting multitasking to the test.

Keep these ideas in your notebook so you go start logging great new ideas and trade them out during the week. Your kids will love you for it!

Let's start with one of my most favorite dishes. I shared these on my blog about two years ago, and I had to include them with this series. They are cinnamon rolls from the can that you cook in your waffle maker. They cook so fast and are amazing. I like them better this way than the traditional oven way method.

There is no need to for extra work when making these. You simply place them in the waffle maker that has been sprayed with cooking spray and cook. They cook up quickly so don't walk away.

We find that it works better for Eddie to get Trey ready while he is also getting ready for his day, but I want Trey to know I had a part in the start of his morning. I like to make items the night before, and Eddie can heat them up which makes things easy for him and Trey knows I had a part in it. If you have followed me for any amount of time then you know I always say that you should use the pretty things every day, and that is just what I do. From sun up to sun down, I find a way to use my pretty things every day.

One of the other items I share in the video below is my Mini Sausages with Fruit. This is such a great treat, and I can make these the night before, and the guys heat them up for 10-15 seconds, and they are set. The prep work on this is very minimum and perfect for breakfast.

Can we just talk about how cute the plate and bowl are! The little bowl is from Target, and the plate is from HomeGoods. Oh, how I love the combination of anything from Target and HomeGoods.

I plan to continue this series as we move through the school year so you can add new ideas and recipes to your weekly routine.

Now you can sit back and enjoy the video as I walk you through the steps of three different ideas for this month. Be sure to subscribe to my channel so you never miss out on something fun and new!

See you in the next blog post!

Target Dollar Spot has Fur Top Winter Hats

I recently shared in one of my videos from my Weekly Vlog Series on my YouTube channel that I wanted to get my hands on a Pom Pom Knit Cap for this Winter and I was surprised when one of you shared with me that the Target Dollar Spot had a selection. Today I found these two and I am just so excited. They are $5.00 each and the quality is amazing.

Even though it is still in the mid 90's I am going to do a quick try on for you so we can both take a look at how they will fit me. This is definitely out of my normal comfort style but let's live a little!

They had black, cream, and gray so I went with the black and cream. The gray was also very nice but I could not justify purchasing three hats when I have never worn one in the past. This will be the first Winter that I wear one and not to mention one that has a pom pom on it! I am venturing out and living a little with the pom pom look!

I love everything about these little caps. They yarn is soft and they seem like they would be from a high-end store instead of the Target Dollar Bullseye Spot. I am very pleased with them and can not wait to match them up with some of my Winter outfits.

I would love to hear from you! Do you like wearing a cap during the Winter months?

See you in my next post!

Practical Ideas for a Better You to Put Into Practice

Tip #1
Thank You Notes

Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, and acknowledging everything that you receive. Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. Giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient, it strengthens relationships, it improves health, and it reduces stress.

At this point find a way to start sending one thank you note a week. Just one......you can do that! That's 52 times you say thank you in a year, we can all do that.

Take your printable sheet below and write down how you are doing in this area. When was the last time you sent someone a thank you note?
Was it for something other than a present that was given you?
How did you feel when you sent the note?

At this point find a way to start sending a thank you note a week. Just one......you can do that!

Research Shows Gratitude Heightens Quality of Life

Tip #2
Positive Daily Thoughts

Would you say your daily thoughts are more positive or negative? Take a minute and write down a few things. How do you react to situations in a normal day? What do you expect to happen in an average day? Do you expect good things to happen to you?

Many people do not know that positive thinking has a lot of health benefits. If you keep your mind in good shape, you’ll have an optimistic view of life and that affects your health and wellbeing in an extremely positive way. On the same note, thinking negatively can actually have an opposite effect on your health. In more often than not, pessimistic thoughts makes you feel uneasy and might even increase illness.

Let's spend the next few weeks really staying focused on our thoughts. Remember to write down how you are doing in this area.

Tip #3
Write Down Task and Check Them Off

If you are in  a slump and feel like you are doing so such at such a fast pace but not seeing many results take 5 minutes at the end of each day and write down a few things that you did that day that maybe were not on a previous to-do list. Then reward yourself by checking them off the list. There is something so rewarding about checking things off a list.

We do way more than we give ourselves credit for and to help you get over this slump you might be in write them down after the fact and start checking things off.

Take a minute and reflect on how you are doing in this area. Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you feel like you are accomplishing what you want in a day? Do you see all the work you are doing and giving yourself credit?

Tip #4
Smile More

If you were to ask someone who knows me to describe who I am, one of the first things that they will say is that I am a continually happy or ‘smiley’ person. This is something that I always laugh about as it has been mentioned many times throughout my life! The good thing is I’m not complaining as a smile has a tonne of benefits to your overall wellbeing.

When you’re smiling, no doubt you’re having a much better time than when you’re not! Smiling simply makes you feel better!
Research has shown that smiling releases serotonin – a neurotransmitter that produces feelings of happiness and wellbeing. It’s like a circle of happiness. Smile and you feel happy, you feel happy and you smile! Even when you’re not feeling great, try smiling, genuinely, and see how you feel!
Take a minute and reflect on your worksheet how you are doing in this area. Do you need to smile more? What's holding you back from smiling? Do you smile at others?

Tip #5
Read a Self-Improvement Book

There are several benefits of reading self-help books. The first benefit of reading self-help books is the experience puts the reader on a path to where they can read, practice the strategies learned, and make improvements in their lives without having to ask others for help. If we read, learn and decide to create our own life plan and carefully do the necessary things that can make us better, we can accomplish our goals and improve our lives.

Reading self-help books can also build a higher sense of confidence in a person that can help them to get out of almost any challenging situation without resorting to the help of others.

Another benefit of self-help books is that one develops the mentally tough attitude of relying on oneself and develops the skills of addressing and untying the knots of day-to-day life.

Take a minute and write down how you are doing in this area. When was the last time you read something on self-improvement? Did you find that it helped you in any way? What was it on, cleaning, parenting, life?

Below is the printout you can use for this exercise. I am very excited to have these on hand for you from this point on. We can work together during one of my videos so you can share your thoughts and see how you are doing. No worries, they are only for you to see! Just click the photo, save to desktop, and then print!

I would hold onto these in a notebook once you complete so you can go back in a month and rewatch the video to see how you are doing!

The key here is to take small steps over time to be the best you. Make the changes you want for you and not to impress others. I hope you enjoyed this and would love to hear your feedback in the comments below. Also be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you never miss out!

Here is the video to was will following along with the post! Be sure to subscribe so you never miss out on this series!

Ideas for Breakfast During School Year

I stay very busy as do all of you! I want to share ideas with you on how we can make yummy breakfast items for the kids during the school mornings. These are very simple ideas but will have your kids feeling very special. I will be sharing this as a series throughout the school year. This will help you add something new to your morning routine for the kids.

The first tip I want to share is that you should use your pretty items even on weekday mornings. I have always said on my Youtube channel and blog that you should use your pretty things every day.  Putting them out for your family will have them feeling special just like you feel when you use them.

I love that these ideas work for a child with a hearty appetite and for a child like my son that does not like a big breakfast. The idea is to put something on their stomach to help get them going in a positive way. Also many of the recipes I will be sharing are items that you can make the night before and heat up in the morning. They will just take minutes to warm and serve.

We are going to start with my Sausage Casserole that is a huge hit in my family. I could make this once a week and my family would be thrilled. It is very quick and easy to make the night before and they heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds to a minute and you are set. I like to serve it with a big bowl of fruit to start them off with the balanced meal.

Here is how you will make this casserole:

You will cook your sausage until browned. Turn off the stove and drain any grease. Quickly put the sausage back in the pan and on the stove but do not turn back on. The pan and meat will still be warm so you will cut the cream cheese into squares and place in pan. Stir until the cream cheese melts and is mixed well.

Lay the first can of crescent rolls in the bottom of a well sprayed 13 x 9 dish so it looks like one sheet of dough. Spread the mixture over the dough. Then lay the 2nd can over the mixture. Bake at 350 until dough is golden.

If you are making the night before, let it cool and place in the refrigerator. The next morning you can heat in the microwave until warm and serve.

I love to make muffins the night before so we can heat them in the microwave and serve the next morning. Let me say loud and clear that there is nothing wrong with making your muffins from a box. You do not have to get in the kitchen and cook them from scratch.

Trey loves warm Blueberry muffins and Lemon Poppyseed muffins. This is another great dish to put fresh fruit with.

Come take a look below at my step by step video as we plan breakfast for the kids! Be sure to subscribe so you never miss out!
