Making a Workout Fit In Everyday

I started feeling like I could not fit a workout in everyday so I had to find alternative ways.  I know this isn’t something new but Im sure you are like me and heard everyone mention it but I finally put it to use. Here are a few examples of what I do to help keep fitness in my life everyday.

1.       We just came off vacation from the condo at the beach. We were on the 19th floor so as much as possible, when we left I took the stairs. That’s 19 floors up and 19 floors down.  Now that might be extreme to some but each floor had a door to walk out and take the elevator but I stuck to it. I also didn’t run 19 flights of stairs I just walked it at a comfortable pace…..as comfortable as 19 flights can be.

2.       When I go grocery shopping I try to carry my bags instead of putting them in a buggy. This of course is an amount that you can carry within reason but instead of tossing them in a buggy I try to carry them to help my biceps.

3.       I try to park further out in parking lots to help give me a little extra distance walking.

4.       When at work I take walk breaks and walk around our building. Instead of just walking outside for fresh air I make a walk out of it.

5.     I always try to take the stairs over the evelator or escalator.

6.       I lay out a plan the night before to see how I can fit the gym or a run in. Planning ahead is a must! I have my bag packed and clothing ready.
I find the only way working out "works" for me is to plan ahead!!!

PF Changs Lunch Date

We had a plan while on vacation to only eat out once because this would help us have more control over our food intake but when we saw there was a PF Chang's we had to grab lunch. We don't have this chain of restaurants in my city and the nearest one is 4 hours away to the north.

I have wanted to try the Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wrap since I saw it featured on a TV show.  I must say they were very yummy. I walked away with a new idea on how to make a few new items and really cut down the calories. I think I am going to make turkey burgers, sandwiches, and  tacos this way.

We had one of the fun half moon shape booths which made sharing dishes very easy!

We were able to each order a separate dish and all shared it. I enjoyed everything but I think I am happy there isn't one near me. I saw the calorie count after the fact and wow, its up there. For a one time lunch it was worth it.

Shrimp fried rice.......very good but the portion was more than the four of us could eat.

The egg drop soup was not my favorite but that's fine.

This was the Chang's Spicy Chicken and the Mongolian Beef. There were two of the best dishes. The portions were enough for the 4 of us to share and we still brought some home. Then we moved to dessert, now I would not have ordered it but it came with our party for two order we placed.

I love the area they have set up for everyone to wait to be seated. It was nice and cozy.

I love the style of this shopping center. Very beach scene.

Very fun afternoon and lunch date!

Beach Vacation

We had a great time at the beach and getting away from Mardi Gras. My husband and I are both not big fans of Mardi Gras so this time of year we take a vacation and go to Panama City. I wanted to share a few photos from our trip.

A few shots of the inside.......

The 2nd bedroom

The master bedroom

The gym is great and one of my favorite features.

OK, I really do not do 40 pound bicep curls...it was fun to try!.:)

Love the TVs that are in front of each treadmill. Each time I went in people were either leaving or not watching. I'm not sure how this would work if 15 people were lined up all watching TV but it was great this time of year.

The view is wonderful!

I went out for a morning run but it quickly turned into a two mile walk. I didn't want to injure my legs in the sand. I have 3 runs coming up in the next month and half. I have two half marathons and 1 5k race. I have already had one injury from not wearing the proper shoes and now I am very careful!!

Back to the trip, it was great fun and I so enjoy the special time with my family!

Dinner at Firefly in Panama City

For my birthday weekend we like to go away to Panama City, Florida and we are there now. We also like to come this time a year to get away from Mardi Gras that's going on now in our city. Since my husband is a Police LT. he has had his fair share of years of Mardi Gras and we are just done with it.

I cant wait to share a couple of photos with you from our fun weekend. Our favorite restaurant there is Firefly's and we had reservations there last night. It is such a unique location and here are a few photos. No matter what your political view is its very cool that the President and his family ate here a few months ago.

When you walk into the restaurant there is a large tree in the center that has lights all thru it. We were told the same man that made and designed the tree of life made this one.

My son with the tree in the background, so pretty.

Of course I had to go around the table taking photos before dinner arrived.

The sweetest man in the world!

Such a beautiful young lady~ our sweet girl!

They start you off with bread. Now normally we ask to pass on the bread but we just could not on this one. They bring you three different spreads and its just worth every single calorie.

Looks like you average salad but the dressing is a ranch peppercorn homemade and is so yummy.

After your salad they bring your crab soup which is over the top yummy!

As my dinner I had the crab cakes with a mango salsa, whipped potatoes, and asparagus. My son and daughter had the same dish. It was very good and very fresh.

What a cute couple!

Then we move to dessert................need I say more............

As we were leaving my son had to have his photo taken with the Alabama Football signed by the players and coach. They were will to sell it for $6,000.00 so we decided on the photo!!

To sum it up, dinner was wonderful, the company was better, and the run is a must to burn off the calories!

Our Vacation and Day at Cades Cove

We recently came back from a trip to the mountains. I wanted to share photos with you because they tell the story better than any words. I love photos from trips we have taken, they mean the world to me. These are going to be in a few different post because it was a week long trip broken down into a few different hikes. I loved it!

This picture backs up me up that no words are needed........................look at that view!

I love this old church. Can you imagine the stories it holds. The weddings, the funerals, the prayers, the bible studies!

This day was my husbands birthday so we planned a very special picnic with the mountains in the back drop. Now that's a special birthday lunch!

What a day with a hike and birthday lunch! Just doesn't get any better! Erica
