Pizza Pasta Bake Recipe



This is a real winner in my home. It makes such a large pot and you will have plenty for lunch the next day to take to work. 



INGREDIENTS:

1 lb Twisted Pasta 
1 package of Sausage
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
½ cup diced white onion
1 carrot, diced
30 oz  plain tomato sauce

1/2 Jar Ragu Tomato & Garlic Spaghetti Sauce 1 garlic clove minced
1/2 cup of mini pepperoni1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
8 oz  low-fat mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp red pepper flakes, served along side (Optional!)



Directions:

Cook pasta according to package directions.

Meanwhile, in a large sautee pan heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan, brown sausage until cooked through. Place sausage on a plate lined with paper towel. Do not rinse your sausage. 

In a large pot heat the second tablespoon of oil in a pan. Sautee onion and carrot  until tender, 5-8 minutes. Add tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce and garlic and 1 tsp salt and pepper to taste. Add the sausage back to the pot. 

Drain pasta and add to the sauce pot. Also add mini pepperoni and toss to coat. Transfer mixture into a large heat safe casserole dish. Top with cheese.

Place casserole under he broiler for 2-4 mins until cheese is golden brown and bubbly. 

Serve “oven to table” with red pepper flakes on the side.
